Wyatt Pike's Real Reason for Leaving American Idol

Season 19 of "American Idol" was different from prior seasons in that, because to the COVID-19 epidemic, aspiring musicians and singers were able to participate in virtual live auditions

but in-person auditions were still available (via Billboard). Wyatt Pike, a teenage singer-songwriter, was one of the hopefuls who performed in front of judges Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, 

Pike, who is from Salt Lake City, Utah, auditioned for the competition at the age of 19 with the acoustic ballad "Best For You.

 The judges applauded the noticeably anxious musician's stories and unique persona afterwards (via YouTube).

Pike's abrupt departure stunned "American Idol" watchers, especially given how well his song had been appreciated. 

 However, with the release of his new song "Deep Blue," the singer-songwriter explained why he chose to leave the show.
